The Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg (TUHH) is a young, innovative university strongly oriented towards research in various aspects of technology. The Department of Technology Assessment specialises in investigating the evolution as well as the consequences of technological developments. Work in the department ranges from empirical observation to the development of new theories on social aspects of technology. A special field of interest lies in sociotechnical systems that incorporate telematics and distributed artificial intelligence. The Department of Telematics is involved not only in teaching and research, but has a long established experience of technology transfer. Specific research expertise is in the field of open distributed processing environments to support reliable distributed business and control applications.
