Relevance for the DEMOS Project

To keep track of a large scale public discussion process, participants need support that makes the huge amount of data easy to grasp. The DEMOS system uses established and approved methods of quantitative and qualitative surveys to

• condense and aggregate individual contributions to a discussion
• summarise the discussion at certain stages
• validate the summaries subsequently
• carry out opinion polls and ballots

Since current applications of quantitative and qualitative online research are still far from offering the functionality needed in the DEMOS system, the project will drive on the development in this area, building on the partners' experiences with state-of-the-art knowledge management and data analysis systems.
